NOT IN OUR NAME!
A collective of Jewish people in Belgium committed to bringing a critical Jewish voice into the public debate.
Our collective was born from a simple conviction: in the face of the crimes committed by Israel in Gaza, the ongoing occupation and settlement expansion in the West Bank, and the impunity enjoyed by the Israeli government despite repeated violations of international law, silence is no longer an option. Belgium and the European Union have the means to act. We believe it is urgent that they do so in order to uphold international law and protect civilian populations.
The collective was founded on 13 May 2025 with the publication of our first open appeal, "Not in Our Name", initiated by 25 Jewish women and men from Belgium. In just three days, the appeal gathered 729 signatures, demonstrating that many Jews in Belgium wish to make their voices heard beyond those represented by the official Jewish community institutions.
Since then, we have continued this work through public statements, analyses, and various initiatives. Our ambition is to make the diversity of Jewish voices in Belgium more visible by amplifying those who stand for respect for international law and human rights, and who advocate for a peace based on justice, equality, and dignity for all.
